Santara AI vs Hostfully
Hostfully is a mature US property-management platform with the best guidebooks in this comparison and an owner portal we do not have. We are the one whose whole price is on the page, with no platform fee on top, and whose day starts with a brief and a cleaning plan already in your team's WhatsApp.
Choose Santara AI if…
- You want the full monthly price before you talk to anyone. Hostfully publishes a per-property rate plus a platform fee it does not publish.
- Your cleaners and drivers coordinate on WhatsApp or Zalo and are not going to install and learn another app.
- You want one page every morning — arrivals, departures, unassigned cleans, open tickets — without opening a dashboard.
- You operate in Vietnam, Indonesia or Thailand and sell on Agoda and Trip.com as much as on Airbnb.
- You would rather try it free for three months than book a demo first. Hostfully does not offer a free trial.
Choose Hostfully if…
- Digital guidebooks are central to your guest experience. Theirs are a product in their own right — 16+ languages, an AI itinerary planner, an upsell marketplace, smart-lock PINs — and more developed than ours.
- Your owners expect to log in. Hostfully has an owner portal with statements, owner blocks and messaging; we send statements but have no owner login.
- You need your own branding throughout — custom domain, custom HTML, white-label booking site. That is on every Hostfully plan; we do not offer white-label.
- Vrbo and Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy matter to you. Hostfully holds top-tier partner status with Vrbo, Airbnb and Booking.com and connects 60+ channels.
- You want an open API and a marketplace of 100+ integrations to build around.
The money questions
| Capability | Santara AI | Hostfully |
|---|---|---|
No commission on channel bookingsAirbnb, Booking.com and every channel you sell on Why?Hostfully takes no commission on channel bookings. On Growth it takes 0.85% of direct bookings plus a 1% payment gateway fee; Pro and Enterprise drop both. We take 0% on channel bookings and upsells at every tier, and 3% only on direct bookings through our booking site. | Yes | Partial |
No per-reservation or booking feeA flat fee taken out of every stay Why?Tier-dependent on both sides of the table: Growth carries a 0.85% direct booking fee, Pro does not. Our only booking-level charge is 3% on direct-site bookings; channel bookings carry nothing. | Partial | Partial |
No commission on guest upsellsLate checkout, transfers, breakfast Why?Upsells sold through Hostfully's Guidebook Marketplace carry a 1% fee, per their guidebook FAQ. Small, but not zero. Ours carry 0%. | Yes | Partial |
No onboarding or setup feeNothing to pay, for anyone Why?Standard onboarding is included on every Hostfully plan, with office hours and an onboarding specialist. Their hands-on Onboarding Assistance Program is listed as "for hire" with no published price. Our migration is done for you at no charge. | Yes | Partial |
No annual contract or lock-inLeave any month and take your data Why?You can pay Hostfully monthly, but their FAQ says the monthly plan is not discounted and recommends yearly. We are month to month at one price, with no exit fee. | Yes | Partial |
Published price at every tierNo “contact sales” to find out what you pay Why?Hostfully publishes "starting at" $15 (Growth) and $25 (Pro) per property per month, each "+ platform fee" — and the platform fee is not on the page. Enterprise (200+) is custom. Our whole ladder, every tier, is on our pricing page. | Yes | Partial |
Dynamic pricing without a per-property surchargeSeasonal and day-of-week rate plans included; ours stands down if you run PriceLabs Why?Hostfully includes pricing management and connects dynamic-pricing tools through integrations, which you pay for separately. Our first-party rate rules are included, and if you prefer PriceLabs, we stand down and let it price. | Yes | Partial |
How it actually runs
| Capability | Santara AI | Hostfully |
|---|---|---|
Proactive daily operations briefEvery arrival, departure, clean, upsell and problem — emailed to you before you ask Why?Hostfully has a dashboard, a booking pipeline and alerts when bookings change. It does not send you a 6am brief of what today needs before you open anything. | Yes | No |
One-tap WhatsApp and Zalo staff plansEach cleaner's day, pre-written and shared to the app they already use in one tap, no new login Why?Hostfully's staff tools are good — task cards, checklists, photos, push notifications in its Service Hub app. They assume your cleaner uses that app. Ours writes the day and shares it to WhatsApp or Zalo in one tap. Hostfully's WhatsApp support is for guest messages, not staff. | Yes | No |
Built for on-site teams, not solo desk hostsDesigned around housekeepers, drivers and villa managers Why?Both of us run teams properly. Hostfully's Service Provider Portal and Service Hub are mature; the difference is where your staff have to be to see their work. | Yes | Yes |
Maintenance tickets with photo evidenceRaised, assigned, chased and closed per property Why?Both ship it. Hostfully's task cards carry photos, checklists and completion triggers. Ours are tickets with photos tied to the room, surfaced in the morning brief until someone closes them. | Yes | Yes |
AI guest messaging with human approvalDrafted in your voice; nothing sends until you say so Why?Both draft and let you approve. Hostfully's InboxAI drafts from your listing, guidebook and guest history and you can approve, edit or send. Ours does the same on Airbnb, Booking.com and Expedia threads and never sends on its own. | Yes | Yes |
Owner-ready statementsReports your villa owners can actually read Why?Both produce owner statements. Hostfully also gives owners a portal to log into — bookings, statements, owner blocks, messages. We have no owner login; you export the statement and send it. | Yes | Yes |
White-label for management companiesYour brand in front of your owners Why?Hostfully includes custom branding on every plan, and its direct site supports custom domains and custom HTML. We do not offer white-label: our booking site footer says it is powered by Santara AI. | No | Yes |
Multi-currency and SE Asia operating realityLocal staff workflows, and prices and statements in IDR and VND Why?Hostfully lists international payment methods, GrabPay among them, and its guidebooks translate into Vietnamese. What it does not publish is how it handles dong or rupiah, and none of its named channels are South-East Asian. Santara AI works in VND and IDR, alongside the other currencies you sell in. | Yes | Partial |
Direct booking siteSeven templates built from listings you already imported, selling from the same synced calendar. Direct bookings carry a 3% commission. Why?Both have one. Hostfully's is more customisable (custom HTML, analytics, coupons, featured listings). Ours is built automatically from the listings you already imported and sells from the same calendar. | Yes | Yes |
What it costs at your size
| Portfolio | Santara AI | Hostfully |
|---|---|---|
| 1 door | $29 /mo | Quote only |
| 6 doors | $154 /mo | Quote only |
| 15 doors | $344 /mo | Quote only |
| 40 doors | $794 /mo | Quote only |
| Commission on channel bookingsOn $20,000 of bookings a month | None | None |
Software subscription only. Channel commission, payment processing and any optional add-ons are excluded on both sides. Our 3% commission applies only to direct bookings through our booking site and is not worked out here.
Competitor figures are the vendor's published rates at that portfolio size. Where a vendor does not publish one, the cell says Quote only rather than an estimate.
Our figures come from the published ladder on the pricing page. Prices shown in USD; readers in a local price book see their own currency there.
"+ platform fee" is the number that matters
Every Hostfully plan reads "starting at" a per-property price, then "+ platform fee". We could not find the platform fee on their site, so we cannot print a monthly total for Hostfully at any size — the table above says Quote only for that reason, not as a jab.
What we can do is the arithmetic on the part they publish. On Pro, fifteen properties is $375 a month before the platform fee, and forty is $1,000 — both above our whole published price at those sizes. At six properties Pro is $150 before the fee, roughly level with us. On Growth the per-property charge is lower than ours at every size we checked: $90 at six, $225 at fifteen, $600 at forty. Whether Growth stays cheaper depends on the platform fee, plus its 0.85% on direct bookings and 1% gateway fee. Ask them for the fee before you compare.
Their guidebooks are better than ours. Here is the honest gap
Hostfully started with guidebooks and it shows: branded templates, Google-imported recommendations, an AI itinerary planner, translation into 16+ languages, upsells sold from the guidebook, smart-lock PINs, print and QR access. The first guidebook is free.
We have a guest guidebook too — a QR page per property with a public section for anyone and a private section (door codes, wifi) that opens only with the guest's booking code. It is simpler. If the guidebook is the product you are buying, buy theirs; if it is one piece of running the stay, ours covers the essentials and costs nothing extra.
Same jobs, different place for your staff
Hostfully's task management is real: automatic cleaning tasks on checkout, checklists, photos, a provider portal and a mobile app where cleaners see their jobs. For a US team where everyone has the company app, that is a sensible design.
Ours starts from a different assumption — that the housekeeper in Đà Nẵng or Canggu already lives in WhatsApp or Zalo and will not adopt another login. So the day is written for them and shared there in one tap, and the 6am brief tells you which cleans are still unassigned before anyone has to ask.
Where Hostfully is stronger
Every comparison page on this site carries this section. If one of these decides it for you, buy theirs.
- Guidebooks. Theirs are a mature standalone product — 16+ languages, AI itineraries, an upsell marketplace, device-synced PINs. Ours is a simpler QR page.
- Owner portal. Owners log in to see bookings and statements, block their own stays and message you. We have no owner login.
- White-label. Custom branding is on every plan, with custom domains and HTML on the direct site. We do not offer it.
- Channel breadth and partner status. 60+ channels by direct API, with top-tier Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com partner status; we connect 54 and Vrbo is not one of them yet.
- Ecosystem. An open API and 100+ integration partners. We have no public API.
- Entry price on Growth. Per property, before the unpublished platform fee, it is below ours at every portfolio size.
Switching from Hostfully
- Free migration, run by us: properties, rooms, rates, availability, reservations and guest history.
- Guidebook content moves across as text and photos into our QR guidebook; anything that depends on Hostfully's marketplace or itinerary planner does not have an equivalent here.
- Owners who used the Hostfully portal will get statements by file instead. Tell them before you switch.
- Most portfolios are live inside 24 hours. Check your Hostfully billing term first — if you are on yearly, plan the switch for renewal.
- Month to month here, no exit fee, full data export, and the first three months are free.
Questions people actually ask
How much does Hostfully cost?
Their pricing page lists Growth from $15 and Pro from $25 per property per month, each plus a platform fee that is not published, and Enterprise (200+ listings) as custom. Growth also has a 1% payment gateway fee and a 0.85% direct booking fee. Monthly billing is available but not discounted. Ask them for the platform fee to get a real total.
Hostfully vs Santara AI: which is cheaper?
On Pro, fifteen or forty properties already cost more per month than our published price before Hostfully's platform fee is added; at six properties they are roughly level before the fee. On Growth, the per-property charge is lower than ours at every size, so whether it ends up cheaper depends on the platform fee and the direct-booking and gateway fees. We take 0% on channel bookings and upsells, and 3% only on direct-site bookings.
Is Hostfully good for property managers in South-East Asia?
It works globally and its guidebooks even translate into Vietnamese. But it is built around US channels and teams on its own app: no South-East Asian OTA is named on its channel page, VND and IDR handling is not published, and staff tasks live in the Hostfully app rather than WhatsApp or Zalo. Those are the gaps we were built for.
Does Santara AI have digital guidebooks like Hostfully?
Yes, a simpler one. Each property gets a QR guidebook page with a public section and a private section that opens with the guest's booking code. Hostfully's guidebooks go much further — AI itineraries, 16+ languages, a marketplace — and if that is what you are buying, theirs is the better product.
Does Hostfully have a free trial?
No. Hostfully says it does not offer free trials and offers a demo instead; its first digital guidebook is free. Santara AI's first three months are free.
Can my owners log in like they do on Hostfully?
Not today. We produce the monthly owner statement — gross minus fees minus expenses, with a CSV export — but there is no owner login. If your owners rely on the Hostfully portal, that is a real reason to stay.
