Your first Airbnb booking in Hội An or Canggu is confirmed, the guest has checked in, and your bank account still shows nothing. Is something wrong? Usually not. An Airbnb payout moves in two stages: Airbnb releases the money, then your payout method takes its own time to deliver it. Most worried messages from new hosts come from mixing up those two stages.

This guide explains how Airbnb pays hosts in Vietnam and Indonesia: when a payout is released, which payout methods Airbnb describes and how long each takes, what decides the currency, why a payout can be held, what Airbnb says about taxpayer information, how co-host payouts and split payouts work, and how to reconcile the money that arrives with the bookings you hosted. Every platform fact comes from Airbnb's own help pages, checked on 27 October 2026, and is linked so you can confirm it.

One limit up front: Airbnb does not publish a list of payout methods per country. Its pages say your options depend on where you are based. So this guide tells you what each method does, and the final word is always the list shown in your own account. This is not banking or tax advice.

When Airbnb releases your payout

Older guides say "24 hours after check-in". Airbnb's current wording is a little different. Per its When you'll get your payout article, for most home stays of 27 nights or less, Airbnb initiates your payout "by the end of the business day after the guest's scheduled check-in date". Co-host payouts for home reservations are usually released at the same time.

The same article lists the exceptions that move the release later:

SituationWhen Airbnb releases the payout
Most stays of 27 nights or lessEnd of the business day after scheduled check-in
New host with fewer than 2 completed stays (unless the listing's location is verified)End of the business day after scheduled checkout, for the first 2 reservations
Listing with ongoing issues (for example low ratings or frequent host cancellations)After scheduled checkout; an issue on one listing can delay payouts for all your listings
Stays of 28 nights or moreFirst month's payout after check-in, then monthly (help 285)
Stays of 28+ nights for new hosts or listings with issuesFirst payout 28 days after scheduled check-in, then monthly

If you are new, verifying your listing's location (help 3776) is the step Airbnb names for avoiding the after-checkout schedule. For monthly guests, our guide to monthly rentals for digital nomads covers the rest of the setup.

Release is not arrival: processing time by payout method

After Airbnb releases the money, your payout method needs time to process it. Airbnb gives these typical times in the same article, and the readiness times (how long a newly added method stays "Pending") in How long it takes for payout methods to be ready:

Payout methodTypical processing after releaseReady after you add it
Bank account3–5 business days3–5 business days
International wire3–7 business daysUp to 2 business days
PayPalWithin one business dayUp to 2 business days
Payoneer Prepaid Debit MastercardWithin 24 hoursAbout 2 business days for approval, 4–15 days for the physical card
Western UnionOne business day, depending on countryUp to 2 business days, depending on country

Fast Pay, Pay to card and ACH appear in the same pages, but Airbnb ties them to specific places: Fast Pay to eligible cards issued in the US, Pay by card to cards issued in France, and ACH to the US and Puerto Rico (Add a payout method). Hosts in Vietnam and Indonesia should not plan around them.

Two more timing rules: banks don't process on weekends or public holidays, so a bank payout moves to the next business day, while Fast Pay and Payoneer can process on those days (help 425). Around Tết in Vietnam or Lebaran in Indonesia, expect bank payouts to wait for banks to reopen.

Which payout methods can you use in Vietnam and Indonesia?

Airbnb's Resource Center article How you'll get paid for hosting lists the possible options (bank account, Fast Pay, international wire, Payoneer prepaid debit Mastercard, PayPal and Western Union) and says plainly: "Your options depend on where you're based." We could not find an official Airbnb page that lists the methods for Vietnam or Indonesia specifically, so we won't guess.

To see your real options, go to Account settings, then Payments, then Payouts, click Add payout method and choose your billing country (help 54). The list you see there is the authoritative one for you. Some rules from help 54 that matter when you pick:

  • Bank account: the bank account must be in the same country as the address you give during setup. The daily transaction limit is $50,000 USD.
  • International wire: you enter your local bank details (account number or IBAN, depending on location). Airbnb says your bank and any intermediary bank may charge fees, and that it does not control or know those fees (help 321).
  • PayPal: the account must be active before you add it; fees may apply.
  • Payoneer and Western Union: use the name on your official ID. Western Union "fees apply".
  • Names must match: the name on the payout method must match the name on the account it pays into.

In some countries Airbnb deposits a small test amount (less than $1 USD) to confirm a new bank account. If you add a method but forget to make it your default, payouts can pause; once a method is ready, Airbnb says it releases paused payouts within 24 hours if there are no other restrictions (help 1342).

Payout currency and exchange fees

The currency you are paid in "is based on the country and method you selected when you first added your payout method", and it can differ from the local currency of your listing (Change your payout currency). You can't change the currency of an existing method; you add a new method in another currency.

Currency also affects the amount. Airbnb's Calculating your payout article says that if your listing currency doesn't match your payout currency, an exchange fee is deducted at the time of payment, and suggests changing the currency in your listing's pricing settings to avoid it. If you price in VND or IDR but are paid in USD, check this before your first payout, not after.

Why a payout is held or smaller than expected

Airbnb says all transactions may be reviewed before they are sent, for example to prevent fraud, which can delay funds "up to 45 days after guest check-in", pause them or, rarely, remove them; you may be asked to verify your identity (help 425). Other common reasons, from Airbnb's pages:

  • No default payout method ready yet (help 1342).
  • Missing taxpayer information. Airbnb says it may withhold tax at default rates, block payouts or block your calendar until you add it (Host taxes and payouts).
  • Deductions in the payout itself: the host service fee, co-host payouts, discounts, VAT on the service fee, Fast Pay fees, exchange fees, refunds you issued, or an earlier cancellation (help 459). Our post on Airbnb vs Booking.com fees for hosts explains the service fee.
  • Cancellation after payout: if a host cancels after Airbnb has paid out, the refund is deducted from future payouts (help 3816).

Taxpayer information in Vietnam and Indonesia

Vietnam. Airbnb's Vietnam withholding taxes article says that under Decree No. 117/2025/ND-CP it must withhold Vietnamese VAT and personal income tax for individual and business-household hosts. As stated on that page: residents have 5% VAT on earnings derived in Vietnam and 2% PIT on total earnings; non-resident individuals have 5% VAT and 5% PIT on earnings derived in Vietnam; corporate hosts who add their 10-digit Enterprise Registration Certificate number are not withheld. Residents are asked for a 12-digit TIN. Airbnb calculates the withholding at booking, and says it will not issue withholding certificates from the 2026 tax year; you find the amounts in your earnings dashboard and Transaction History.

Indonesia. Airbnb's Responsible hosting in Indonesia page says hosting income is generally taxable, that the regional PBJT on accommodation is capped at 10% and set by each regency or city, and that the host is responsible for collecting and remitting it. Airbnb also accepts an Indonesian NPWP as a VAT ID, though it notes the VAT ID does not exempt you from VAT on its service fees (help 437).

Ask a local tax adviser what applies to you. Our Vietnam homestay licence guide and Bali villa licence guide cover the registration side.

Co-host payouts and split payouts

If someone runs the listing with you, Airbnb lets the listing owner share payouts directly (How co-host payouts work): the cleaning fee, cleaning fee plus a percentage, a percentage (with or without the cleaning fee) or a fixed amount per booking. The co-host has 14 days to confirm, changes apply only to bookings that start after the co-host confirms, and Airbnb notes regional limitations depending on where you, your co-host and the listing are. Co-hosts are paid first; if the host's earnings are too small to cover the agreed amounts, the co-host may get less, and the host may get nothing (help 3816).

You can also split your own payouts between two methods with routing rules, by listing or by percentage, on a browser only (help 1343). If you use both, the routing split happens first and the co-host share applies to each part. Our Airbnb co-host guide covers the working arrangement.

Reconcile every Airbnb payout in four steps

Step 1

List what you expect

At the end of each month, list every Airbnb reservation that checked in, with the expected payout shown in its reservation details.

Step 2

Match what arrived

Compare that list with the Earnings dashboard and your bank or PayPal statement. Mark anything that is pending, held or partly refunded.

Step 3

Explain each gap

Use Airbnb's list of deductions: co-host payouts, exchange fees, adjustments, withheld tax. Write the reason next to the amount.

Step 4

Close the month

Carry unexplained gaps into next month and contact Airbnb about anything that stays unexplained. Then feed the confirmed numbers into your owner statement or profit worksheet.

How Santara AI fits in

Santara AI does not process, hold or forward Airbnb payouts. Airbnb pays you directly through the payout method in your Airbnb account, exactly as described above.

What Santara AI does is keep the record straight. When you connect Airbnb and your other channels, reservations and cancellations land on one calendar, and freed dates go back to the other channels. In Reports, revenue is recorded as the net payout, and the monthly owner statement for each property is gross booking revenue minus channel fees minus expenses, with expenses you add yourself and a CSV download. Revenue is counted at checkout and currencies are never converted, so a stay that checks in on 30 November and out on 2 December sits in December even if Airbnb paid it in November. You can invite team members with roles to the workspace, for example a bookkeeper.

What Santara AI does not do

It does not receive or transfer OTA payouts, charge virtual cards, file taxes, or calculate a management fee.

FAQ

When does Airbnb pay hosts?

For most stays of 27 nights or less, Airbnb releases the payout by the end of the business day after the guest's scheduled check-in. Your payout method then needs its own processing time, for example 3–5 business days for a bank account.

Why is my first Airbnb payout late?

Hosts with fewer than two completed stays who have not verified their listing's location are paid after checkout for their first two reservations. A missing payout method, missing taxpayer information or a fraud review can also delay it.

Can I receive Airbnb payouts to a bank account in Vietnam or Indonesia?

Airbnb doesn't publish a per-country list. Add a payout method, choose your billing country, and see which methods appear. Airbnb says a bank account must be in the same country as the address you give at setup.

Does Airbnb withhold tax from payouts in Vietnam?

Airbnb's help page says it withholds VAT and personal income tax for individual and business-household hosts under Decree 117/2025/ND-CP, at rates that depend on residency. Check the page and a tax adviser for your case.
